ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus is disclosed for the molding of a drinking straw bending elbow section formed by a portion of closely spaced peripheral corrugations at a predetermined location of an otherwise smooth drinking straw. Instead of the usual two semicircular jaws forming the corrugations, the invention utilizes a mechanical equivalent of a rolling action by a pair of straight, generally planar molds provided with suitable corrugations and arranged to move tangentially relative to the straw. The invention facilitates the production and reduces the cost of the requisite machinery.
