ABSTRACT A procedure for draining off shallow gas from the seabed and arrangement for execution of the procedure, involves inserting through the upper sedimentary layer a system of vertical drainage piles for gas around the site in question, e.g. for location of a construction on the seabed or along a pipeline route on the seabed. The arrangement includes essentially a base plate with a central hole for receiving a drainage pile after the base plate has been placed on the seabed.
