A method of and system for estimating a parameter of a local maxima or minima of a correlation function derived from a received signal . An interpolated local maxima or minima is determined. An interpolation offset is then derived, comprising a deviation between locations of the interpolated and sampled local maxima or minima of the function. An estimate of the parameter is derived from the interpolation offset.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant d'estimer un paramètre d'un maxima ou minima local d'une fonction. Un maxima ou minima local interpolé est déterminé. Un écart d'interpolation, constitué par un écart entre la position du maxima ou minima local interpolé et celle du maxima ou minima local échantillonné de ladite fonction, est ensuite déduit puis une estimation du paramètre est déduite de cet écart d'interpolation.
