Abstract of the Disclosure Procedure for quick hardening of varnish films preferably pigmen- ted with hiding pigments, characterized in that at least one varnish film with a base of air-drying unsaturated polyester, at least one .alpha.,.beta.-olefinic unsaturated monomer and catalysts with a starting temperature of more than 40°C, preferably organic peroxides, and if necessary other varnish binding agents, accelerators and promoters, is applied to the surface to be coated, is coated if necessary with a layer of an unpigmented varnish with the same above-mentioned base, and is hardened by means of high energy pulsed radiators, and further characterized in that when several varnish layers are applied, the catalyst, such as peroxide, is applied with one layer, which can if necessary be polyester-free, and the accelerator is applied with another layer.
