ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A procedure for recirculating phenol in a digestion process for lignocellulosic materials, in which lignocellulosic material is digested with phenol-containing solutions in order to dissolve lignin. Phenol recirculation is carried out in a cyclic process in which phenol-containing solution is first used in a washing step of the cellulose material arriving from the phenol digestion, then in the lignocellulosic material digestion step itself, and finally in a lignocellulosic material impregnation step before the phenol digestion step.
