ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for the pre- paration of B-lithiumaluminate (LiAlO2) which comprises: preci- pitating a lithiumhydroxyaluminate, corresponding to the formula Li20, A12O3 ? nH2O, from aqueous solutions, which con- tain lithium ions and aluminum values either as aluminum ions or as the element, at a pH higher than 7 and at concentrations of the two metal components of at least 0.1 gramatoms per liter, the resulting precipitate being washed and converted thereafter into B-lithiumaluminate.
