ABSTRACT Disclosed is a process and an apparatus to enhance the resolution of digital signals. In digital television signals transformed into a frequency range, inaccuracies in the structure of the reproduced image signals occur in the computation of the coefficients because of rounding errors when the place number is reduced. The present invention helps herein that the numerical range of the DC component is transferred into the numerical range of the AC components so that for the joint processing of the DC and the AC components there is a greater numerical range available for the AC components. The present invention can be used in digital systems using block processing, in which, because of a limited bit number, rounding of the transmitted spectral coefficients is undertaken in the computations.
