A process for producing by compression molding, an insulator with a core as well a housing consisting of a sheath portion and at least one shade portion around the sheath portion, comprising the steps of: (A) preliminarily forming a rubbery layer around an outer periphery of said core to obtain a preliminarily molded body by extrusion molding, (B) placing said preliminarily molded body between at least two mold units of a mold; (C) forming a compressed molding by compression molding said preliminarily molded body in a given shape inside a cavity defined by said at least two mold units; and (D) curing the resulting molding. An apparatus is also disclosed for producing such an insulator by compression molding, which apparatus comprises (A) a preliminary molding unit, (B) a molding unit form forming a compressed molding from the preliminarily molded body in a given shape by using a mold, and (C) a heater for curing the rubber in the rubber layer.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un isolateur par moulage par compression. L'isolateur comporte une âme et un logement constitué d'une gaine et d'une partie profilée autour de la gaine. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : (A) formation préliminaire par moulage par extrusion d'une couche caoutchoutée autour de la périphérie extérieure de l'âme permettant d'obtenir un corps préliminaire moulé; (B) placement de ce corps moulé entre au moins deux éléments d'un moule; (C) formation d'un moulage comprimé, par moulage par compression, à partir de ce corps préliminaire moulé de manière à donner à celui-ci une forme donnée dans la cavité délimitée par les deux éléments du moule; et (D) polymérisation du moulage obtenu. L'invention vise également un appareil de moulage par compression pour la production de l'isolateur. L'appareil comprend les éléments suivants : (A) un moule préliminaire, (B) une forme de moulage, permettant de profiler, à l'aide d'un moule, le corps préliminaire moulé à la forme voulue et (C) un appareil de chauffage servant à polymériser le caoutchouc dans la couche caoutchoutée.
