A catalytic coating of facility elements, for example, reactor interior surfaces, can eliminate or reduce carbon deposits on the surfaces. Such a catalytic coating can comprise a calcium-aluminate catalyst with the main phases CA and C2A as well as the secondary phase C12A7. The catalyst is preferably doped with nickel, manganese, molybdenum, ruthenium or palladium or their compounds. The catalyst composite brings about an efficient promotion of the gasification of carbon.
