Abstract of the Disclosure In order to increase the production rate in the filling of edible hollow sticks, hollow sticks which are parallel to each other are continuously moved and the filler is continuously charged into the moving hollow sticks in that the filler is charged in alternation into the hollow sticks of different groups and when the hollow sticks of a given group have been filled the continuous stream of filler is directed without interruption to the hollow sticks of another group. The apparatus for carrying out the process comprises a conveyor for conveying hollow sticks having longitudinal axes which are transverse to the direction of travel, at least two charging devices, each of which is movable along a length portion of the conveyor in synchronism therewith and comprises at least two charging tubes, which are adapted to be moved into and out of respective hollow sticks, and a single filler feed line, which branches and communicates with all charging tubes of the charging devices and is flexible at least in one length section.
