The invention is concerned with a process and apparatus for coating sutures. A suture is contacted with an initial coating mixture to provide a wet coated suture. The wet coated suture is removed from the initial coating mixture while preventing at least part of the excess coating mixture on the wet coated suture from contacting the initial coating mixture, thereby maintaining the initial coating mixture at a substantially constant concentration. The wet coated suture is then dried to provide a coated suture. The invention is particularly useful for coating surgical ligatures.
L'invention porte sur une méthode et un appareil pour le revêtement de fils de suture. On applique un mélange de revêtement initial sur un fil de suture, ce qui donne un fil avec enrobage humide. Ce dernier fil est séparé du mélange d'enrobage initial en empêchant au moins une partie du mélange d'enrobage en excès sur le fil d'arriver en contact avec le mélange d'enrobage initial, ce qui permet de maintenir ce dernier mélange à une concentration pratiquement constante. Le fil de suture avec enrobage humide est ensuite séché pour former le fil enrobé. L'invention est particulièrement utile pour l'enrobage des fils de ligature en chirurgie.
