A process for continuously applying an external coating along a predetermined region of a pipe, said process comprising the steps of heating the pipe along said predetermined region, applying a heated strip of coating material along said predetermined region, adhering the applied strip of heated coating material onto underlying pipe, and causing or allowing the pipe and coating material to cool substantially to ambient temperature.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'application continue d'un revêtement externe le long d'une zone prédéterminée d'un tuyau, qui consiste à chauffer le tuyau le long de ladite zone prédéterminée, à appliquer une bande chauffée de matière de revêtement le long de ladite zone, à coller la bande appliquée de matière de revêtement sur le tuyau se trouvant en dessous, et à laisser refroidir sensiblement le tuyau et la matière de revêtement, de sorte que leur température descende à la température ambiante.
