Lentils are fed in the form of a sheet of a single thickness of lentils to the gap (8) of a pair of opposed, cylindrical, slightly gapped, downwardly rotating rollers (9) ("chaffers"). Each chaffer has an elastic, resilient, circumferential surface layer (12) having a Shore A durometer hardness of 60- 85. The rollers are gapped and rotated at a speed and speed differential operative to remove the hull when de-hulling and to split the kernels when splitting. De-hulling is conducted at ambient temperature and the resulting kernels are dried and heated for splitting.
Selon l'invention, des lentilles sont acheminées sous forme d'une feuille à épaisseur unique vers l'espace (8) d'une paire de rouleaux cylindriques opposés légèrement espacés (9) (cylindres de criblage) entraînant les lentilles vers le bas. Chaque cylindre de criblage comprend une couche superficielle circonférentielle souple et élastique (12) présentant une dureté Shore A au duromètre variant entre 60 et 85. Lesdites grilles supérieures sont espacées et tournent à des vitesses différentes permettant d'enlever l'enveloppe pendant le décorticage et de fragmenter les grains au cours de la fragmentation. Le décorticage s'opère à une température ambiante, les grains résultants étant alors séchés et chauffés pour la fragmentation.
