ABSTRACT According to the process a bottle (1) to be tested is filled with compressed air and after a settling period a check is performed by means of a flow sensor (9) of the quantity of air emerging from the bottle. If the air leaving the bottle lies within a predetermined range, the bottle (1) is assumed to have no leak. If the rate of air flow is above a predetermined range, the bottle can be assumed to have a leak. The process allows rapid detection of even small leaks, and is therefore suitable for industrial testing of bottles.
