ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for forming selvages on the surface of a separable fastener comprising a substrate comprising a thermoplastic resin and, provided vertically on the surface thereof, a multiplicity of fastening elements comprising a thermoplastic resin, which comprises, while conveying said separable fastener in the longitudinal direction, internally heating said separable fastener along the conveying path and, at the same time, pressing said fastening elements onto said substrate to form flat parts that will constitute selvages, with a plurality of press rolls provided in a spaced relationship with each other in the widthwise direction of said separable fastener; and an apparatus therefor. This process assures continuous operation of forming smooth and flat selvages. -16-
