ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE To generate hydrogen and oxygen, steam at 400 pounds per square inch (psi) and approximately 400°F. is forced through approximately one quarter inch thickness of a cata- lyst capable of ionizing the steam on its surface while an electric or magnetic field of approximately 24 volts per inch is applied across the catalyst. Suitable catalysts capable of ionizing water on their surface are zirconium, chromium, manganese, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, palladium, germanium and niobium.
