9-18763/A/GTP 566 PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING SMALL QUANTITIES OF LIGHT ABSTRACT A light receiver converts light to be measured into an electrical signal, which during a measuring interval is integrated into a measuring signal. In a first time segment a first mean value signal is formed, corresponding to the mean value of the measuring signal over the first time segment. In a second time segment of equal duration, a second mean value signal is formed within the same measuring interval, corresponding to the mean value of the measuring signal over the second time segment. Finally a difference signal is formed corresponding to the difference of the two mean value signals and constituting a measure of the light received. The difference signal is passed on for further signal processing. (Fig. 1)
