PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING THE CONCENTRATION OF GASEOUS OXYGEN, CARBON MONOXIDE AND CARBON DIOXIDE IN GASEOUS OR LIQUID SAMPLES, IN PARTICULAR IN BREATH AND BLOOD SAMPLES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For measuring the concentration of oxygen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in a gaseous or liquid sample, a reaction mixture is used which changes colour in a characteristic manner due to the presence of the respective gas component. The gaseous or liquid sample is continuously mixed with the reaction mixture maintaining a constant mixing ratio and conveyed through a flow cuvette which is photometrically analysed. Alternatively, the sample is injected into a hermetically sealed test cuvette con- taining the reaction mixture which characteristically changes its colour by contacting it with the sample. After a pre- selected reaction time the change of extinction is photometric- ally determined as a measure for the wanted gas component by comparison with a standard reference value. The test cuvette is sealed with a gas-tight membrane comprising several super- imposed layers of an elastic support material. Le A 17 979
