A process and apparatus for sealing pockets of a thermoplastic resin sheet with a backing such as an aluminum sheet uses first and second pressure members such as pressure rollers or pressure plates each having notches thereon, the notches on the first pressure member extending in a direction intersecting the notches on the second pressure member, whereby the backing is attached to the sheet along a cross-hatched pattern of sealing lines.
