A B S T R A C T PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR THE DEMETALLIZATION OF A HYDROCARBON OIL A process for the demetallization of a hydrocarbon oil by passing said oil together with hydrogen over one or more fixed beds (1-6) of a demetallization catalyst, in which process whenever that catalyst portion which is first contacted with the hydrocarbon oil is deactivated, the point of supply of the hydrocarbon oil is moved downstream, at least part of the original supply of hydrogen (7) being maintained over the entire catalyst.
