ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Comminuted fat and comminuted lean meats with ap- propriate additives, are pumped through separate manifolds to a die. The die has various partitions or dividers and the fat enters the rear of the die and is shaped thereby. The lean meat is extruded into the fat as it passes through the die and is shaped by the partitions. The resultant slab is processed and then sliced to provide bacon analogue pro- duct with the various layers of lean meat being situated within the fat forming the remainder of the slab. In another embodiment, the lean meat is pumped through a die at the rear of the machine and through shaped elements. The fat is pumped around the elements whereupon the mass is extruded from the machine. This permits islands of lean meat to be situated in the fat as well as lean strata partially or wholly on the outside of the slab.
