ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a process for isomerizing part of the glucose content of a glucose containing solution into fructose wherein the productivity of a catalyst comprising glucose isomerase immobilized on a SiO2 carrier is increased considerably by pre-contacting the glu- cose-containing solution with particles of SiO2 or alumosilicate. Also disclosed is an apparatus for carrying out the process.
