A process utilising the gases carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen to produce alcohols directly, comprises the steps of bringing a fluid mixture comprising carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen into contact with the surfaces of a supported tubular porous catalyst membrane having a range of pore sizes including micropores, mesopores and macropores, controlling the temperature of the said catalyst membrane, maintaining a pressure over said catalyst membrane of from 88 to 600 kPa, and recovering alcohol containing product formed by contact of the fluid mixture with said catalyst membrane.
L'invention porte sur un procédé utilisant les gaz monoxyde de carbone, dioxyde de carbone et hydrogène pour produire des alcools directement. Ce procédé comprend les étapes consistant à mettre un mélange fluide comprenant du monoxyde de carbone, du dioxyde de carbone et de l'hydrogène en contact avec les surfaces d'une membrane de catalyseur poreux tubulaire supporté ayant une plage de dimensions de pore comprenant les micropores, les mésopores et les macropores, à contrôler la température de ladite membrane de catalyseur, à maintenir une pression sur ladite membrane de catalyseur de 88 à 600 kPa, et à récupérer un produit contenant un alcool formé par contact du mélange fluide avec ladite membrane de catalyseur.
