A carbonaceous feedstock to alcohol conversion process in which carbon dioxide is removed from the syngas stream issuing from a feedstock reformer, to yield a carbon dioxide depleted syngas stream including hydrogen, carbon monoxide and methane. This carbon dioxide depleted syngas stream is then passed through a Fischer-Tropsch reactor ultimately yielding a mixed alcohol product which is preferably largely ethanol. The removed carbon dioxide stream is passed through a methane reformer along with methane, which is produced in or has passed through a Fischer-Tropsch reactor, to yield primarily carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The carbon monoxide and hydrogen stream from the methane reformer are passed through the alcohol reactor. Also disclosed are a unique catalyst, a method for controlling the content of the syngas formed in the feedstock reformer, and a feedstock handling system.
Cette invention concerne un procédé de transformation d'une charge carbonée en alcool selon lequel le dioxyde de carbone est extrait d'un flux de gaz de synthèse provenant d'un reformeur de charge afin de produire un flux de gaz de synthèse appauvri en dioxyde de carbone et comprenant de l'hydrogène, du monoxyde de carbone et du méthane. Ce gaz de synthèse appauvri en dioxyde de carbone traverse ensuite un réacteur Fischer-Tropsch pour produire un produit alcool mélangé, de préférence à méthane majoritaire. Le flux sans dioxyde de carbone passe ensuite dans un reformeur de méthane avec le méthane produit ou ayant traversé le réacteur Fischer-Tropsch, pour donner essentiellement du monoxyde de carbone et de l'hydrogène Le flux de monoxyde de carbone et d'hydrogène provenant du reformeur de méthane traverse le réacteur d'alcool. L'invention concerne également un catalyseur unique en son genre, un procédé permettant de réguler la teneur en gaz de synthèse formé dans le reformeur de charge d'alimentation, et un système de manipulation de ladite charge.
