ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Plant and process for the self-energising gasification of solid fuels in a pressurised reaction chamber of a fixed or fluid bed gasifier with a gasification agent, in which fuel is fed from a bunker into the gasifier by means of a fixed displacement pump which is separated from the reaction chamber by a rotary valve. The valve prevents gas escaping into the bunker and causing blowbacks. A similar pump may be used for extracting ash from the reaction chamber. - 1 -
