ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Provided is a process and apparatus for the separation of solid mineral substances. Particular applicability is found in the separation of resins from resin-bearing coal material. The resins are effectively separated by treating the resin- bearing coal with a non-solvent liquid, e.g., water, and then subjecting the resultant slurry to centrifugal force, e.g., in a classifying cyclone separator. The step of subjecting the resin- bearing coal slurry to centrifugal force is effected concomi- tantly in the presence of a gas such as air. A quality resin concentrate which is usable without subsequent refining can thereby be recovered.
