Relates to a process and apparatus that improves the hydrogen production efficiency for small scale hydrogen production. According to one aspect, the process provides heat exchangers that are thermally integrated with the reaction steps such that heat generated by exothermic reactions, combustion and water gas shift, are arranged closely to the endothermic reaction, steam reformation, and heat sinks, cool natural gas, water and air, to minimize heat loss and maximize heat recovery. Effectively, this thermally integrated process eliminates excess piping throughout, reducing initial capital cost.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant d'améliorer l'efficacité de la production d'hydrogène à petite échelle. Dans un mode de réalisation, le procédé comporte des échangeurs de chaleur intégrant thermiquement les étapes de réaction, p. ex. chaleur produite par les réactions exothermiques, la combustion et la conversion à la vapeur d'eau, qui sont placés à proximité de la réaction endothermique, de la reformation de vapeur et de dissipateurs de chaleur tels que gaz naturel, eau et air froids, afin de réduire au minimum la perte de chaleur et de maximiser la récupération de chaleur. Ce procédé à intégration thermique permet de supprimer efficacement les canalisations superflues et de réduire le capital de départ.
