1031-18 PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING ASPHALTIC SUBSTANCE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process and apparatus is provided for treating asphaltic substance, in which heated asphaltic substance is delivered to a blowing still for oxygen treatment. A portion of the asphaltic substance is withdrawn into a mixing tank, in which it is oxygen- ated at the same time that it is treated for dispersion of oxygen-containing bubbles, for return to the blowing still. The oxygenation in the mixing tank will preferably be provided by air bubbles, with the dispersion being accomplished by mechanical agitation within the mixing tank. Preferably, the process is conducted on a continuous or substantially continuous basis. :
