The present invention relates to a process for correcting misalignment of steel bands circulating about a continuously operating press and to a press adapted for such correction of misalignment. The press has a fixed press bed and a movable press top and a pair of endless flexible steel bands circulating around the press bed and the press top and defining a press gap between them having a high pressure zone, a medium pressure zone and a low pressure zone. The press top is flexible, at least in the high pressure zone, the flexing being controlled by piston and cylinder assemblies arranged on opposite longitudinal sides of the press. The bands pass over driven and deflection rollers on opposite sides of the press gap and at least one of the rollers is adjustable so that its axis of rotation can be moved. When realignment of one of the steel bands is required, the short stroke piston and cylinder assemblies are operated on one side of the press to reduce pressure on the band at that side, and then the axis of rotation of the adjustable roller is moved to cause the desired realignment. In this way, stretching and deformation of the band during realignment can be avoided.
Cette invention concerne un procédé de correction des défauts d'alignement des bandes d'acier d'une presse en continu et une presse adaptée pour mettre en oeuvre ce procédé. La presse comporte une table de pressage fixe et un bloc supérieur de pressage mobile qui définissent un entrefer de pressage comportant une zone de haute pression, une zone de pression moyenne et une zone de faible pression. Le bloc supérieur de pressage est flexible au moins dans la zone de haute pression, la flexion étant réglée par des vérins disposés le long des rives longitudinales opposées de la presse. Les bandes d'acier circulent sur des rouleaux moteurs et des rouleaux guides disposés de part et d'autre de l'entrefer, la position d'au moins un des rouleaux étant réglable pour déplacer l'axe de rotation. Pour réaligner les bandes d'acier, on actionne les vérins à courte course disposés d'un côté de la presse pour réduire la pression exercée sur la bande correspondante et l'on déplace l'axe de rotation du rouleau réglable pour réaliser le réalignement voulu. De cette façon, on évite d'étirer et de déformer la bande en cours de réalignement.
