A process and catalyst for the direct hydrogenation of carboxylic esters which comprises contacting and reacting one or more esters which hydrogen under predominantly liquid phase hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising a copper compound, a zinc compound and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of aluminium, zirconium, magnesium, a rare earth and mixtures thereof, prepared by calcining these compounds at a temperature in the range of 200 to less than 400 °C.
L'invention se rapporte à un catalyseur d'hydrogénation directe d'esters carboxyliques et au procédé consistant à mettre en contact et à faire réagir au moins un ester avec de l'hydrogène dans des conditions d'hydrogénation à phase liquide prédominante en présence d'un catalyseur comprenant un composé de cuivre, un composé de zinc et au moins un composé sélectionné dans le groupe constitué d'aluminium, zirconium, magnésium, terres rares et de mélanges de ceux-ci. On prépare ce catalyseur en calcinant ces composés à une température comprise entre 200 et 400 DEG C.
