Disclosed is a process for the production of acetylpyridines of the formula (I), by reacting a pyridinecarboxylic ester of the formula (II), where R1 is C1-6-alkyl, with acetic acid in the gas phase in the presence of a catalyst. The active material of the catalyst comprises titanium dioxide and at least one alkali or alkaline earth metal oxide and it is supported on an alumina- silica support having an apparent porosity of at least 50%. The process has the advantage of producing only small amounts of by-products (e.g., pyridine).
L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'acétylpyridines de la formule (I), consistant à faire réagir un ester pyridine carboxylique de la formule (II) dans laquelle R?1¿ représente alkyle C¿1-6?, avec un acide acétique en phase gazeuse en la présence d'un catalyseur. Le matériau actif du catalyseur contient du dioxyde de titane et au moins un oxyde de métal alcalin ou alcalino-terreux et il est porté sur un support d'alumine-silice ayant une porosité apparente d'au moins 50 %. Le procédé présente l'avantage de produire uniquement de petites quantités de produits dérivés (par exemple pyridine).
