Disclosed herein is a process and catalyst for producing a monoalkylated aromatic compound from a polyalkylated aromatic compound, comprising the step of contacting an alkylatable aromatic compound with a polyalkylated aromatic compound under at least partial liquid phase conditions in the presence of a zeolite beta catalyst having a phosphorus content in the range of 0.001 wt.% to 10.0 wt.% of said catalyst, to provide a product which comprises a monoalkylated aromatic compound.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un catalyseur pour la production d'un composé aromatique monoalkylé à partir d'un composé aromatique polyalkylé, comprenant l'étape consistant à mettre en contact un composé aromatique alkylable avec un composé aromatique polyalkylé dans des conditions de phase liquide au moins partielle et en présence d'un catalyseur au zéolite bêta présentant une teneur en phosphore comprise entre 0,001. % en poids et 10.0 % en poids dudit catalyseur, afin de fournir un produit comprenant un composé aromatique monoalkylé.
