18 ABSTRACT The invention concerns a process and a catalyzer for dehydration or dehydrocyclization of hydrocarbons. The catalyzer consists of an aluminum oxide/chromium oxide carrier, using as activators alkaline and/or alkaline earth-metal compounds and metallic compounds from the third and/or fourth subordinate groups of the cyclic system. These catalyzers in conjunction with special operating procedures and reactors permit significant suppression of coke formation and secondary reactions.
