Procédé et dispositif (1) pour apliquer un fil (3) sur un support (9) en donnant au fil (3) une forme sinueuse, caractérisés par les points suivants: a) on délivre le fil (3) avec une vitesse linéaire contrôlée de valeur V1; b) on déplace le fil (3) transversalement à sa direction de progression; c) on l'applique sur le support (9), le fil (3) et le support (9) au contact étant entraînés avec une vitesse linéaire V2 inférieure à V1; d) le taux de conformation du fil (3) est ainsi défini par le rapport V1/V2. Nappes obtenues avec le procédé et le dispositif (1) conformes à l'invention. Articles, notamment des enveloppes de pneumatiques, comportant de telles nappes.
