A process is disclosed to authenticate subscribers to one or several exchanges of a digital communications network, with at least one subscriber-side network terminator, to which at least one data terminal can be connected, at least one authentication module arranged at a subscriber, which module can receive a first identification carrier containing a first subscriber-specific cryptographic key and at least one second authentication module at or immediately upstream from the exchange that can receive a second identification carrier containing a second subscriber-specific cryptographic key, with the following process steps: a) transmission of information sent from the second authentication module to the first authentication module, b) encoding of the information received with the first subscriber-specific cryptographic key in the first authentication module, and transmission of the coded information back to the second authentication module, c) decoding of information with the first subscriber-specific cryptographic key in the second authentication module with a second subscriber-specific cryptographic key to authenticate the subscriber to the exchange. For that purpose, a device for authenticating subscribers to one or several exchanges of a digital communications network has at least one subscriber network termination to which at least one data terminal may be connected. The invention is characterised in that at least one first authentication module is provided for each subscriber and can receive a first identification carrier, and in that at least one second authentication module that can receive a second identification carrier is provided at the exchange.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'authentification d'abonnés auprès d'un ou plusieurs centres de commutation d'un réseau numérique de communications, notamment d'un réseau numérique à intégration de services (RNIS), comme décrit dans la première revendication, ainsi qu'un dispositif d'authentification d'abonnés conformément aux revendications 6 et 8. Les liaisons entre les raccords des abonnés et les centres n'étant pas assurées, il existe le danger que des intrus ne puissent intercepter ces liaisons. L'objet de l'invention est donc de rendre difficile ou même entièrement impossible tout abus du centre de commutation par un intrus non autorisé. A cet effet, le dispositif d'authentification d'abonnés auprès d'un ou plusieurs centres de commutation d'un réseau numérique de communications comprend au moins une terminaison de réseau côté abonné qui peut être connectée à au moins un terminal de données. L'invention se caractérise en ce qu'au moins un premier module d'authentification qui peut recevoir un premier support d'identification est situé au niveau de chaque abonné. Au moins un deuxième module d'authentification qui peut recevoir un deuxième support d'identification est situé au niveau du centre de commutation. Alternativement, un système supplémentaire est connecté entre les terminaisons de réseau associées au centre de commutation et le centre lui-même. Le système supplémentaire contient au moins un deuxième module d'authentification qui peut recevoir un deuxième support d'identification. Les modules d'authentification peuvent coder et/ou décoder des informations au moyen d'un code spécifique aux abonnés individuels, afin de les authentifier unilatéralement et/ou mutuellement, et peuvent échanger des informations.
