The invention relates to a method for hardening a coating on a work tool, especially by means of radiation. In order to harden coating in a simple manner in areas which are difficult to access in a three-dimensional workpiece, said workpiece is arranged in a plasma generating chamber and plasma is generated therein, thereby at least partially hardening the coating.
