A process and device for detecting oxidable and/or reducible gasses in air are useful for controlling ventilating systems in buildings or vehicles and for monitoring combustion processes and/or waste gas catalytic converters. At least one energised and heated sensor (5.1,; 7.2) provided with contact electrodes (5.9; 5.10) and with a metallic sensor material, preferably polycrystalline metal oxide, is used, as well as an electric evaluation circuit. The sensor (5.1; 7.2) is crossed by an alternating current which either consists of at least two alternating currents of different frequencies or is switched between at least two frequencies. Capacity changes between the sensor material and the contact electrodes (5.9; 5.10) are evaluated as typical for the presence of reducible gasses and capacity changes within the mass of the sensor material (sensitive material) are evaluated as typical for the presence of oxidable gasses. The gas-dependent changes in the ohmic resistance components of the sensor material are considered in this context.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de détection de gaz oxydables et/ou réductibles dans l'air pour commander des systèmes de ventilation de bâtiments ou de véhicules et pour surveiller des processus de combustion et/ou des catalyseurs des gaz de fumée. On utilise à cet effet au moins un capteur (5.1; 7.2) en un matériau métallique capteur, de préférence un oxyde métallique polycristallin, pourvu d'électrodes de contact (5.9; 5.10), parcouru par un courant et chauffé. On utilise également un circuit électrique d'évaluation. Le capteur (5.1; 7.2) est parcouru par un courant alternatif constitué d'au moins deux courants alternatifs de fréquences différentes ou est commuté entre au moins deux fréquences. La variation des capacités entre le matériau capteur et les électrodes de contact (5.9; 5.10) est évaluée comme typique de la présence de gaz réductibles et la variation des capacités dans la masse du matériau capteur (matériau sensible) est évaluée comme typique de la présence de gaz oxydables. Les variations dues aux gaz des composantes de résistance ohmique du matériau capteur sont prises en considération dans ce contexte.
