The invention concerns a process for dispensing smart cards to smart card users from a magazine in a storage container. The smart cards are available in a non-predetermined way, without restriction to a particular provider or particular use. The smart cards at a point in time t1 contain those electronic components whose functions are sought before t1 by many undefined and unknown users for smart-card applications. For the purpose of loading a smart card with data and dispensing a smart card to a user, the smart card dispensing station can communicate via a user menu with a user during a period .DELTA.t between t1 and a later time t2. The user menu gives unambiguous and repeatable specifications regarding loading and dispensing. During the period .DELTA.t, the card dispensing station is connected via a cable- and/or radio-linked active communication adapter to an automatic or human-operated verification system. In the period .DELTA.t, the user can enter particular features via the user menu and data link into the dispensing station which transmits those features to the remote station; during the period .DELTA.t, the programs and/or data at the dispensing station can be modified by back-transmitted data and/or programs from the remote station. Personalisation, i.e. initial loading of the smart card with programs and/or data which are unique to and identify the card user, is done during the period .DELTA.t and the selection (controlled from the dispensing station) of a particular smart card from the magazine at time t2 takes place in such a way that the user operating the menu receives his own non-exchangeable card corresponding to the specifications which he or she entered via the menu and suitable for use as a smart card at some time after t2.
L'invention concerne un procédé de distribution de cartes à puce à un utilisateur de cartes à puce à partir du magasin d'une réserve. Les cartes à puce sont stockées, de façon indéterminée, sans affectation ni à un prestataire, ni à une utilisation déterminés, les cartes renfermant, au temps t1, les composants électroniques dont les fonctions demandent un grand nombre d'utilisateurs indéterminés et inconnus, avant le temps t1, en vue de répondre aux utilisations desdites cartes. En vue de charger une carte avec des données et de la distribuer à un utilisateur, le poste de distribution des cartes à puce peut communiquer, par l'intermédiaire d'un menu d'emploi, avec un utilisateur pendant l'intervalle de temps .DELTA.t compris entre le temps t1 et le temps t2, le menu d'emploi fournissant de façon univoque et répétitive, le mode de chargement et de distribution d'une carte. Pendant le temps .DELTA.t, le poste de distribution est raccordé, par l'intermédiaire d'une connexion active de données guidée par ligne et/ou par radio, avec un système de contrôle automatique ou à intervention humaine. Durant le temps .DELTA.t, l'utilisateur peut entrer, par le menu d'emploi, par ligne de données, des caractéristiques individuelles dans le poste de distribution, lesquelles sont transférées de ce dernier à un poste éloigné et, pendant le temps .DELTA.t, le programme et/ou les données du poste de distribution peuvent être modifiés par des données et/ou un programme retransférés à partir du poste éloigné. La personnalisation, c'est-à-dire le chargement initial de la carte à puce par des programmes et/ou des données qui sont associés de façon univoque à l'utilisateur de la carte et qui l'identifient, s'effectue pendant le temps .DELTA.t, avec lequel la sélection d'une carte déterminée du magasin, commandée par le poste de distribution, s'effectue au temps t2 de telle façon que l'utilisateur employant le menu obtienne sa carte individuelle de manière irréversible correspondant à ses données pré-établies entrées par menu et pouvant être utilisée de façon appropriée à un instant suivant t2.
