ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process and apparatus for electrostatic painting of plastic parts. The paint is applied electrostatically on one face of the part. The face opposite the face to be painted is subject to ionization. This is done by an ionizer, which produces an ionized air jet from compressed air and a high voltage AC current. In another embodiment, a grounded electrode tip produces a corona discharge near the opposite face.
