ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process and a device for gutting fish with voluminous belly contents such as fish before spawning or tunny-species, is described. Non-decapitated fish lying on their backs and with their tail ends leading, are conveyed successively along a trough-shaped path in the direction of their longitudinal axes. While the fish are advancing, their belly cavities are cut open by a slitting knife. Thereafter, the intestines are loosened and removed upon fluid-floating by suction pumping after comminution and severing of parts of the intestines. To this end there is provided a water supply and cleaning tool in the form of a suction pump including a star-shaped rotating ejector.
