- 27 - Abstract An apparatus for moving an endoscope (2) along a canal- shaped cavity (4), characterized by: (a) a turnout tube (20) having, upon use of the appa- ratus, an outer area (26) which is stationary relative to the cavity wall and an inner area (24) receiving a partial length of the endoscope (2); (b) driving means (18) for moving forward in power-op- erated fashion anterior parts of the endoscope (2) and of the inner area (24) of the turnout tube (20) which are lo- cated within the cavity (4); (c) and motion determining means acting on the endo- scope (2) for determining the rate of forward motion of the anterior part of the endoscope (2) in such a way that it is substantially half as great as the rate of the anterior part of the inner area (24) of the turnout tube (20) during op- eration of the driving means (18).
