To process a signal (s(t)), particularly to recognize discontinuity, an orthogonal imaginary signal (s(t)) is first formed based on signal ((s)t). Then, a transformational step follows upon which a differentiation step follows. Processed in this way, the signal (s(t)) shows the discontinuity especially clearly, so that it can be selected and detected. Preferred applications of this process and the devices which operate according to it are telecommunications technology and signal processing in grids, especially in low, high, and medium tension technology.

Pour le traitement d'un signal (s(t)), notamment pour la reconnaissance d'une discontinuité, un signal imaginaire (s(t)) orthogonal est d'abord formé pour donner le signal ((s)t). Cette opération est suivie d'une étape de transformation, puis d'une étape de différenciation. Le signal (s(t)) ainsi traité indique particulièrement bien une éventuelle discontinuité, de manière que celle-ci puisse être sélectionnée et détectée. Ce procédé et les dispositifs qui fonctionnent d'après ledit procédé s'appliquent tout particulièrement au domaine médicotechnique, à la signalisation technique des communications et au traitement des signaux en technique de tension de réseau. notamment en technique de basse, haute et moyenne tension.
