Wash columns as used to remove impurities from the residual melt from melt crystallization are of limited efficiency due to the fact that the crystal mass normally fed in contains solids of different sizes, which partially also tend to agglomerate. The purifying action based on the flow around these solid components is therefore limited. The invention proposes to load wash columns with monodisperse particles produced beforehand by means of suitable granulators. The invention also relates to the use of this process and of this device for purifying and preparing chemical substances.
