The invention relates to a process for reeling a paper web, particularly a tissue web, specifically when starting up the machine and after a web break. According to the invention, this is achieved by pressing the paper web tail 8 or the entire width of the web onto the reel drum 5 and securing it there by means of an auxiliary roll 9 before it is transferred to the reel spool 3. The invention also relates to a device for reeling a paper web, particularly a tissue web, specifically when starting up the machine and after a web break, using a reel spool 3 and a reel drum 5. Here, an auxiliary roll 9 is provided in addition to press a paper web tail 8 or the entire web width onto the reel drum 5 and secure it there.
