A skinning device for removing the skin from the meat of a fish fillet. The skinning device includes an immobilizing component for immobilizing the skinning device in a predetermined position. The device also includes a pair of elongated rods, the rods being mounted on the immobilizing component in such a manner as to be in a proximal relationship relatively to one another and substantially parallel to each other. The skinning device is adapted to be immobilized by the immobilizing component with the rods in a substantially horizontal position so that the fish fillet may be pulled from underneath the skinning device with the skin being pulled between the rods and the meat being separated from the skin as it abuts against one of the rods.
