Selon cette méthode, on sou- met ces formations géologiques à au moins un flux de neutrons, dits in- cidents, ayant une énergie sensiblement déterminée, on établi au moins partiellement le spectre de diffusion inélastique incohérente des neu- trons diffusés résultant de l'intéraction des neutrons incidents avec la matière contenue dans les formations géologiques, et on déduit de ce spectre certaines des quantités d'énergie fréquemment transférées entre les neutrons incidents et des molécules des matières contenues dans les formations, ou vice versa.
