Abstract Process and device for the alignment of the desheathed ends of round cables The process described provides that initially only the angular distance from the first defined angle of rotation position is measured by means of mechanical scanning in a measuring station where the cable end is predetermined and then the cable end (14) is brought into an aligning station to the first angle of rotation position by a movement of translation and a rotational movement through the measured angular distance, and subsequent to colour identification is turned further where required through the predetermined angle. There is provided for the scanning of the position of the cores a rotatable and axially slidably mounted scanning element (16) which is coupled with an angle of rotation signal generator (46, 48), which element encompasses individual cores by means of scanning fingers (20) or engages in the external intermediate spaces of the cores (12). During the scanning process the scanning element (16) is disconnected from all drives. Fig. 1
