ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A net-like material is produced by fibrillating a number of sheets of material, overlaying the sheets, and stretching the sheets transversely. The apparatus for transversely stretching the material includes a number of grips arranged to move on divergent paths. The grips are freely slidable in a longitudinal direction during their divergence and are then moved in a longitudinal direction until the grips are released.
