ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The process for closing boxes by applying tape, in particular for closing cardboard boxes, is carried out by a machine having a frame which supports at least one device for unreeling a reel of tape and guiding means which define a path for the tape. The path extends from the unreeling device to a unit for applying the tape to a box. Adhesive dispensing units for spreading the tape on its side to be applied to the box are provided along the path.
