ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a process and plant for supplying fuel for a gas-steam turbine power station providing peak current generation of a basis of coal, the fuel is generated by the autothermic pressure gasification of prepared run-of- mine coal with steam and oxygen and air respectively, and a pure methane strong gas and a synthetic weak gas or methanol are produced from the supply gas. The synthetic weak gas forms the normal fuel supply of the power station, the methanol being stored and fed intermittently to the power station, as required, to meet peak current required ments. The pure methane strong gas may be supplied to a natural gas supply system which serves as a storage element from which the natural gas is taken as an exchange gas.b
